Route 11 Dance Festival takes its name from an iconic stretch of American highway that runs the length of the eastern United States, connecting communities to one another and to destinations further afield. In May of 2014, Lexington, Virginia, will become a cultural interchange along this roadway, bringing together dance companies from neighboring cities and towns, college programs from up and down the eastern seaboard and acclaimed visiting artists who have graced some of the most famous stages in the world.

Festival highlights include performances by Trey McIntyre Project and Dance Theatre of Harlem, as well as a gala concert featuring professional dancers representing companies from across the United States. Master classes and educational events will be held throughout the week and will be open to the public.

Route 11 Dance Festival is presented by Fine Arts In Rockbridge and made possible through a generous bequest from the estate of Terrell Wilson, esteemed college educator and lifelong patron of the arts. It is dedicated to his memory.

Additional funding has been provided by the Virginia Commission for the Arts, the Virginia Tourism Corporation and Devils Backbone Brewing Company. Our media partner is WMRA.
